Reishi

A calm evening and a soft end to the day.

Quick answer · Last updated

What is reishi and what is it used for?

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a mushroom with a glossy reddish brown cap that grows on wood and has been used in teas and broths in Asia for centuries. Ra Hygge makes a double extract from the reishi fruiting body, available as an alcohol free liquid extract and a powder, and also added to low acid coffee. The taste is deep, woody and slightly bitter, which is why reishi is usually chosen for an evening ritual.

Questions about reishi

The questions are written the way people actually search.

What is reishi?

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a mushroom with a glossy reddish brown cap that grows on wood. Ra Hygge makes a double extract from the reishi fruiting body, available as an alcohol free liquid extract and a powder, and also added to low acid coffee.

How do I use reishi extract?

Shake the bottle and add 1 to 3 ml (1 to 3 pipettes) to warm tea, cocoa or water. Stir half a teaspoon of powder (about 690 mg) into a drink. Many people prefer reishi in the evening.

Does reishi extract contain alcohol or caffeine?

No. The alcohol used in extraction is removed in the final step, and the mushrooms themselves contain no caffeine. Only reishi coffee contains caffeine.

What's the difference between reishi liquid extract and powder?

The liquid extract (100 ml) is concentrated 12:1 and dosed with a pipette. The powdered extract (40 g, about 57 servings) dissolves instantly and suits coffee, tea and smoothies.

What does reishi taste like?

Deep, woody and slightly bitter. Reishi goes well with cocoa, chai and herbal tea, and in low acid coffee the taste is soft with a light umami.

Can I drink coffee in the evening?

The effect of caffeine lasts several hours, so a late cup can disturb sleep. For an evening ritual, choose a smaller amount or an herbal tea with reishi.
