The Rå Hygge story
Rå Hygge is a Nordic brand making organic coffees, teas and mushroom products from natural ingredients. It was founded in Copenhagen in 2013 by Finnish coffee and wellness entrepreneur Irina Sandberg.
How you pronounce or spell “hygge” [ˈhygə] doesn’t really matter. It’s more a feeling than a word: the warmth of home, calm and a sense of belonging.
Mushroom coffee is our hygge
To us, coffee is hygge at its purest: the morning cup, a break shared with a friend, a quiet moment before the day begins. With Rå Hygge mushroom coffees we want to bring that feeling to every coffee lover, including those who prefer a gentler cup.
People in the Nordics drink more coffee per person than anywhere else in the world, so we know how much a good coffee moment is worth. We combine carefully roasted organic coffee with functional mushrooms to make that moment even better.
For people and the planet
We work with small organic coffee-farming cooperatives in Peru and roast our coffee ourselves, at our own roastery in southern Sweden. That way we know exactly what goes into every cup.
We want to make everyday foods we love and add some of nature’s most valuable ingredients to them. That’s where the first half of our name comes from: “rå” means raw, pure and unprocessed.
We believe it’s a step towards a better future, for all of us and for our shared home, the Earth.
